The Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit is an international Congregation founded by Father Arnold Janssen in Steyl,
Netherlands on 8 December 1889. There are 3378 sisters who are working in 5 continents (46 countries).
The sisters are engaged in the hospital work, education, socio-pastoral, justice/peace/integrity of creation, and promotion of women.
The sisters in Togo/Benin started their missionary work since 1897. They left the country during second world war on 1918. Then, they came back on May 8, 1989. They started their pastoral
activities in Helota. This is situated in the north, about 500 kms from the capital. At the beginning their main work was in the hospital and in the parish. At the beginning there were 3
sisters working as nurses and 1 sister as pastoral worker. Now the sisters are in 4 communities; 3 in Togo and 1 in Benin.
We
are servants of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Infinite Love,
the
Spirit will only bless us,
if we are united in
love.
(Blessed Josepha)
